Left behind? or the creator’s plan?

As humans, we love to be appreciated no matter the degree of self confidence we have (hard guy hard guy). A little “oh,you look pretty” or “nice haircut bro” releases endorphins (happy hormones). Do you remember grinning because that guy you’ve been stalking finally liked one of your photos? (Aunty stop forming that you don’t stalk anyone)

Life is in stages. At every stage, the society has created holes that we must fill and when these are not achieved it feels like everyone is watching you fail. The wave of social media has not helped matters because now you can literally see a 16 year old buying exotic cars or someone on a trip to the Maldives in the comfort of your tiny room in Ibadan with the tap of a finger. Don’t get all self righteous on me. If you’re comfortable in the little box you’ve created for yourself then this post is not for you.

A wise man once said “we are the architects of our misfortunes”. A lot of motivational speakers emphasize the importance of the power of the human mind and never relevant action oriented activities. Here is an example of a conversation between me and a motivational speaker:

LRB: sir, you are doing such wonderful work, how did you make your first million at 16?
Motivational speaker: if you focus on your focus you will become a focus. Smart work is better than hard work.

This motivational speaker forgot to add that one uncle give him one 100k to start his business. They make it seem like all you need is a sound mind. Yes, they may be right but I am writing for all of you out there feeling lost, feeling like the elements are against you, there is still hope!!!
Abraham wasn’t mentioned until he was seventy-five (75); Joseph became the pharaoh’s right hand at a young age (“when did LRB start reading bible?” hahaha). This goes to show that you can start at any time and still be successful (you cannot talk about bible history without those names).
Left behind? or the creator’s plan? Either way you are amazing and unique in your own way. A win is a win no matter how little. Don’t be so hard on yourself this New Year.

Love & Light.

Nice write up Esther👏🏾… I really hope people get the message of not putting so much pressure on themselves because of the progress and success of others and just work to build the little efforts that add up over time.
